Barbara Herrington, MA, CMC
Owner, Aging Life Care Professional

Barbara is the owner and lead care manager at All About Aging, overseeing the team of care managers. Her interest in brain function started early in her career as her undergraduate degree is in early childhood education. Barbara taught kindergarten and then started her own business teaching infant swimming lessons for many years. Barbara gained much of her elder care experience by caring for her mother-in-law, Juanita, and from working with families challenged by aging issues when she talked her way into a job to open offices in Polk County for the Alzheimer’s Association – Florida Gulf Coast Chapter in 1999. That led to her going to University of South Florida, School of Aging Studies to earn a master’s in gerontology.
Barbara is currently active on the board of the Aging Life Care Association, Florida Chapter, serving on the Public Relations committee. She has previously served on and been the chair of the board of the Senior Connection Center.
Barbara appreciates the opportunity to be an advocate for her clients, honoring their dignity and choices as they age while collaborating with the family on their concerns. To her, it is a joy to work with the families, being creative with solutions that are acceptable to all and improve quality of life for all.
Barbara loves being a Mimi to her eight precious grandchildren and loving them, and is thankful for Zoom and Skype for the ones who are not local. She keeps busy making quilts for them when not walking or doing yoga and kayaking while listening to books. Given some time away, you would find her hiking in the mountains.
